It was particularly challenging when my good friend Gloria asked if I could photograph her precious Gabriel. I love love love making sure that my friends and family have good photos to cherish, but I was hesitant. I was thousands of miles from my studio, and did not have any of my professional gears. 

Here’s the challenge:

:: Gabriel doesn’t sit. He either falls back or falls forward. Sometimes when he falls forward, he lands on his hands and he starts crawling towards me. Other times when he falls forward, his face lands first. kids…
:: Gabriel is super active. He crawls and crawls non-stop.
:: My mirrorless camera is slow in focusing, as are most mirrorless (another topic another day).

Here’s what we did:

:: We pick the brightest time of a day (we guessed it but it ended up being overcast)
:: We pick a “location” (brother’s apartment) with the most natural light
:: We set up a white floor
